Such a cute book! My boys loved it。 Penelope is such a fun character and the illustrations are wonderful。
Paige Richards,
I unironically read kids book even before having a baby and I can just say this is one of the best ones。
Melissa Lucas,
Cute story for the first day/week of school。 Penelope Rex is nervous about going to school and then she discovers her classmates are children and she eats them all。 The teacher gets angry and makes her spit them out。 She has a hard time making friends。 Dad tells her children are same on the inside but tastier。 She thought a lot about it but still had a hard time NOT eating her classmates。 Finally, she tried to make friends with the class fish and he bit her。 Being the fish's snack helped her to Cute story for the first day/week of school。 Penelope Rex is nervous about going to school and then she discovers her classmates are children and she eats them all。 The teacher gets angry and makes her spit them out。 She has a hard time making friends。 Dad tells her children are same on the inside but tastier。 She thought a lot about it but still had a hard time NOT eating her classmates。 Finally, she tried to make friends with the class fish and he bit her。 Being the fish's snack helped her to realize it is not being eaten。 She stopped eating her classmates and began making friends。 Super cute story。 。。。more

Kaitlyn Thompson,
Great book to ensure students are befriending each other。
Jared White,
I read this once yesterday and once today and I think I had a smile on my face the majority of the time both times。 It is adorable and funny。 I think it would make a good read-aloud for pre-k through 2nd grade or so, especially when the school year is just starting。 It's a humorous way to let kids know that they're each a little different and also teaches the valuable lesson that it's not okay to eat your classmates, no matter how delicious they may seem。 I read this once yesterday and once today and I think I had a smile on my face the majority of the time both times。 It is adorable and funny。 I think it would make a good read-aloud for pre-k through 2nd grade or so, especially when the school year is just starting。 It's a humorous way to let kids know that they're each a little different and also teaches the valuable lesson that it's not okay to eat your classmates, no matter how delicious they may seem。 。。。more

Nikki,
Used this book for my Kindergarten classes two months ago and at least once a week I have a student ask if we can read it again。 Not sure why this is the book that they have become fascinated with, but I feel like any book that can linger in their memories that long deserves my attention。
Amy,
I giggled! What a cute story!

We Don't Eat Our Classmates (Hardcover)by Ryan T。 HigginsUsed in a kindergarten classroom to teach social behaviors, and how to treat our classmates。 The kids found it hilarious, and it helped them learn to respect their classmates。 They also focused on how they treat their classmates helps them to make friends。 We Don't Eat Our Classmates (Hardcover)by Ryan T。 HigginsUsed in a kindergarten classroom to teach social behaviors, and how to treat our classmates。 The kids found it hilarious, and it helped them learn to respect their classmates。 They also focused on how they treat their classmates helps them to make friends。 。。。more

Kristina,
Genre: Modern Fantasy FictionGrade Level: Preschool-K This is a super silly book that I think some students could resonate with。 Working in a daycare setting, I have seen my fair share of students who show violent tendencies and struggle to empathize with the students they hurt。 I think this book would be really great to read at the beginning of the school year to talk about your expectations for the classroom。 I think this book would also work well to read one-on-one with a student who you noti Genre: Modern Fantasy FictionGrade Level: Preschool-K This is a super silly book that I think some students could resonate with。 Working in a daycare setting, I have seen my fair share of students who show violent tendencies and struggle to empathize with the students they hurt。 I think this book would be really great to read at the beginning of the school year to talk about your expectations for the classroom。 I think this book would also work well to read one-on-one with a student who you notice is struggling with some of these issues to help explain the problem to them in a new way。 。。。more

This dinosaur deserved to have her fears addressed to begin with。 Not be punished for reacting to having them。This book’s lessons are outdated or even aged。Kids are not inherently monsterous or prone to monstrosity, such as a dinosaur would be (i。e。 eating people as snacks)。 Kids - even those facing chronic or multiple acute traumas - are not prone to harming other kids out of fears that have already been validated and addressed。This kid dinosaur needed someone to show her emotional support, and This dinosaur deserved to have her fears addressed to begin with。 Not be punished for reacting to having them。This book’s lessons are outdated or even aged。Kids are not inherently monsterous or prone to monstrosity, such as a dinosaur would be (i。e。 eating people as snacks)。 Kids - even those facing chronic or multiple acute traumas - are not prone to harming other kids out of fears that have already been validated and addressed。This kid dinosaur needed someone to show her emotional support, and the lesson we hand out kids through this book is: “don’t be mean to people out of fear cause someone else could harm you”, or anything to the side of that。In my opinion, Parents who were likely bullies with endless underaddressed privilege see the worth in this lesson。“A taste of your own medicine” is NOT what a *fearful* marginalized child (seeing as this was the ONLY dinosaur in the classroom) learns better behavior from, and it’s certainly NOT what they deserve。[my young reader was 7 years old at the time this review was made] 。。。more

Genre: Modern Fantasy Age: Pre K-1stI loved the idea behind this book! The story was so good and it teaches great lessons as well。 For instance, students can learn the importance of getting along with their classmates。 Throughout the book, the T-Rex realizes her and her classmates are in it together and this is an important concept for students to learn at a young age。 I think this would be a good book to read aloud in class to a lower elementary class!
Sara,
My daughter received this book as gift before her first day of kindergarten。 A very sweet story for young children about to enter school!
Barb Johnson,
Very cute!
Kayla,
Super cute and fun story that I could totally see students enjoying。 Still teaches a lesson about being kind but in a very fun and silly way。 I think this would be a great quick and easy book to do a read aloud with that students would have fun with。
Mitchell,
Friends for dinner。 This has been done, and better。 Oh it was a good try。 And I wanted to like this。 But neither the art nor text was good enough to pull this one off。 Worth reading once though。
Tommy Schlosser,
A great and cute reminder of how we should treat other people, especially those different from us!
Alexa Jaye,
This is a picture book about dinosaur who goes to her first day and thinks about how good her classmates would taste, that is until she figures out that she is not at the top of the food chain in the school。
Tapani Aulu,
Kirja kutsuu itseään hulvattoman hauskaksi, mutta oli oikeasti jopa vähän pelottava vielä kuusivuotiaallekin。
